OPEN CELL
R-VALUE
Open cell foam R-Value is typically in the range of R-3.6 to R-3.9 per inch. Inherently moisture permeable, meaning water can move through it. Typically compared as a sponge, open cell absorbs water.
THE BENEFITS
Open cell spray foam provides an air seal that instantly improves your home’s energy efficiency. You could reduce your utility bills by as much as 50%. Other benefits include elimination of drafts, heat, and moisture from getting into your home. Air Seal can only be achieved with a minimum recommended thickness of 3 inches. These are the minimum amounts, but the recommended amounts vary.
REDUCE SOUND / SOUND PROOFING
A great energy-efficient way to lower the volume of daily noises is to add spray foam insulation to your home’s walls, ceilings, and floors.
Spray foam insulation can help keep your home quieter because it’s an effective barrier to airborne sounds from outside. They can also help reduce plumbing sounds from showers and toilets flushing.
Adding spray foam to your home is like transforming it into a theater-quality sound room.
WHAT WE RECOMMEND
We usually recommend open cell spray foam to be 6-inches on a roof deck or ceiling and 3-inches in the walls.
